Blog 11: Fall of Constantinople

  1. The Christians had some advantages over the Muslims, they could counter-attack wave after wave of men. They also had high walls to keep out any intruders. Still the Muslims had mostly all of the dominance during the fight. They had advanced weaponry such as the cannon, gunpowder, etc. The also controlled the sea, and as the Christians strong walls were penetrated, the part of the army on the boats poured in. They took complete control of the city as well as looting it first. Met-Met, the leader of the Muslim army renamed the city Istanbul in honor of their great victory. The Christians were still allowed to worship their own religion, but under strict rules. They had to dress a certain way and couldn't bear arms. At that point in history the Muslims were in their finest hour.
